DURBAN - A 36-year-old man was arrested by Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) officers for speeding at 196km/h on his motorcycle in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport, Community Safety and Liaison MEC Peggy Nkonyeni welcomed the arrest.

The motorist was charged with reckless and negligent driving and taken to Alexandra SAPS, where he was later released on R3 500 bail.

"We are pleased with the efforts of our law enforcement officers for arresting the offender. This means that they are always vigilant for any road transgressors. This is testimony to the fact that our enforcement is not seasonal but 365 days a year. We caution all road users to adhere to the prescribed speed limit," Nkonyeni said.
