DURBAN - Two private security companies recovered 10 stolen and hijacked vehicles in seven days in the south of Durban.
PT Alarms, alongside other private security companies and police, recovered seven vehicles in seven days.
On Sunday, PT Alarms said: “The PT Alarms Tactical Tracker unit and tracking partners are cracking down hard on vehicle crimes and the teams made another successful recovery.”
PT Alarms recovered a Renault Triber that was hijacked in the Moorton area by armed men. The vehicle was tracked and recovered quickly by the PT tracking team, Tracker Connect and metro police abandoned in Savannah Park, PT Alarms said.
“Crime-fighting partnerships are proving to be fruitful with PT Alarms Tactical and Tracker Connect notching up vehicle recoveries,” PT Alarms said upon another vehicle recovery.
It said that on Thursday, the PT Tactical Tracker unit and Tracker Connect recovered a Toyota Avanza that was hijacked from Westville and recovered in the vicinity of Wema Hostel in Swinton Road, Mobeni.
On Wednesday, PT Alarms recovered a vehicle that was hijacked in Pinetown.
“The PT Tactical Unit and Tracker Connect were successful in tracking and recovering a Toyota Hilux bakkie which was hijacked from Pinetown and found abandoned on a property in Welbedacht,” PT Alarms said.
Also on Wednesday, PT Tactical apprehended one suspect and recovered a stolen VW Polo in uMlazi.
“The PT Tactical Track1 member tracked the VW Polo which was stolen in the uMlazi area and was recovered in uMlazi E section with one suspect who was in possession of the keys. The suspect attempted to flee and was pursued and apprehended by the PT Tactical member,” PT Alarms said.
It said it was assisted by Tracker Connect, uMlazi K9, metro police street crime unit and SAPS Airwing and Urban Defence.
“A BMW which was hijacked in Silverglen was recovered after it was found crashed in the Isipingo vicinity by PT Tactical Tracker Unit and Tracker Connect,” PT Alarms said.
On Tuesday, PT Alarms recovered a VW Polo that was hijacked by two armed suspects in the vicinity of King Edward VIII Hospital. The vehicle was recovered in uMlazi R section by Tracker Connect, PT Tactical Tracker Unit, Fidelity and uMlazi K9.
On Monday, PT Alarms recovered a Mercedes-Benz within minutes of it being hijacked in Jacobs by armed suspects. The vehicle was recovered in uMlazi by the PT Alarms Tactical Tracker unit.
“It is alleged that the suspects arrived in an Avanza,” PT Alarms said.
“The vehicle which contained the owner’s valuables was tracked via a cellphone by PT Tactical Unit.
“The vehicle was recovered in uMlazi F section and was found still idling while the suspects fled.
“The inside of the vehicle was stripped,” PT Alarms said.
The company said that their tactical unit was assisted and backed up by the uMlazi SAPS K9 unit and Tracker Connect.
Meanwhile, Alpha Alarms recovered three vehicles last week – a Toyota Corolla, Toyota Avanza and Ford Ranger.
Alpha Alarms said that on Saturday their tactical officers recovered a silver Toyota Corolla that was hijacked in the Sea View area and was later recovered in Lamontville while the suspects tried to strip the vehicle.
In another incident, officers recovered a silver Toyota Avanza that was hijacked by armed suspects from uMlazi’s Z section. The vehicle was activated by Tracker Connect and was recovered within a short while in the Folweni area.
Earlier in the week, Alpha Alarms recovered a blue Ford Ranger that was stolen in the Chatsworth area. The vehicle was activated by Tracker Connect and was recovered in the Lamontville area by Alpha911 Tactical, Tracker Connect and the Malvern SAPS.
