DURBAN - Looters grabbed nappies off a truck that had crashed on the N2 Joyner Road off-ramp on Tuesday afternoon.

Private security company PT Alarms tactical unit witnessed the commotion and stopped to disperse the looters.

PT Alarms spokesperson Trishen Govender said a PT tactical officer dispersed looters and salvaged nappy stock in the truck crash.

Govender said the tactical officer acted quickly to disperse looters and received thanks from a grateful truck owner after a vehicle veered off the roadway on the N2 north at the Joyner Road off-ramp.

The officer was returning from a scene when he spotted the commission on the freeway and stopped to assist.

“Looters were grabbing boxes of diapers and fleeing. The PT Tactical officer stood down at the scene and dispersed looters in a bid to salvage a significant amount of stock,” Govender said.

“The owner arrived on the scene and was thankful to the PT Alarms tactical officer for his quick intervention and salvaging a quantity of his stock.”

Govender said law enforcement also responded to the scene together with other security personnel.

“Well done to the PT tactical officer for his swift intervention.”

Govender said the truck was recovered.
