Wendy Williams, the iconic host of “The Wendy Williams Show” from 2008 to 2022, is facing significant health challenges.

According to court-appointed guardian Sabrina E. Morrissey, Williams’ battle with early-onset dementia has progressed.

Morrissey stated in legal documents obtained by “PEOPLE” that Williams is now "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated."

This means that Williams' health condition has significantly impacted her ability to function both mentally and physically.

Cognitively impaired indicates that her memory, decision-making and processing abilities are severely affected due to her diagnosis of progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

The former talk show host can no longer perform regular daily activities independently and requires ongoing care.

Being legally incapacitated means she is no longer able to make decisions for herself, leading to the appointment of a court-ordered guardian to manage her affairs, leaving her in a vulnerable state.

William’s court-ordered guardianship began in April 2022 after a series of health and personal struggles.

These included Graves’ disease, lymphedema and battles with substance abuse. She was later placed in a care facility, with reports suggesting limited contact with her family.

In February, Williams’s medical team confirmed that she had been diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a condition affecting language and behaviour.

They revealed she received the diagnosis in 2023, explaining the illness had already brought “significant hurdles” into her life.

Williams recently weighed in on the ongoing P. Diddy drama, expressing her lack of surprise at the allegations surrounding the rapper.

“You know how I feel about that? It is about time. To see this video on TV of [Cassie] getting pummelled … it was just horrific,” Wendy shared.

For years, Williams has alluded to Diddy’s controversial behind-the-scenes actions, making her latest comments even more impactful as the scandal continues to make headlines.

Morrissey is currently involved in a legal dispute with A&E Television Networks and Lifetime Entertainment over the release of “Where Is Wendy Williams?”, a docuseries on Williams’ life post her talk show.
