South African actress Rosemary Zimu, popular for her roles in Netflix’s "Savage Beauty" and "Happiness Is a Four-Letter Word", is stepping into a transformative new phase of life.
The talented star recently revealed her pregnancy in a captivating cover shoot for the March 2025 issue of "Batswadi Magazine", showcasing both her joy and grace as she cradles her growing belly.
During the interview, Zimu shared that she had her life planned out and being pregnant so soon, was not on the cards.
"I had my life planned out, advance my career, get married and then, at 35 or older, start thinking about children, When I found out I was pregnant, I was shocked. I immediately went down on my knees to pray and an overwhelming sense of gratitude filled my heart," she said.
The stunning cover captures not just Zimu's radiant joy but also the profound transformation she is undergoing: "I’m having such a great time with this pregnancy, simply because I am taking it one step at a time and not allowing my fears to overshadow my future."
She also spoke about the importance of family. Raised in a close-knit community, Zimu highlights the strong values instilled in her by her grandparents and extended family.
Most of my childhood was spent with my grandparents, who were together for over 54 years. That kind of lifelong love is inspiring to me and I’ve always wanted to be with someone for the long haul," she explains.
Zimu's fiancé, whom she has been with for five years now, has proven to be a steadfast support throughout this journey.
The actress said that he has made the pregnancy journey "pleasant".
"It's the little things, when I wake up feeling too heavy to get up, he’ll massage my feet, help me up or make breakfast. He makes sure I’m not doing any strenuous activities. Those little things mean everything."
The couple, while different in personality, shares a strong common ground that emphasises their faith, with Zimu confidently asserting, "We may not always agree, but our common ground is never losing God."
She envisions an enriching environment for her child, where they can know their uniqueness and be defined not by societal norms but by a sense of divine purpose.
Despite stepping into motherhood, Zimu remains determined to preserve her identity: "I am so intentional about not letting motherhood change me too much. The essence of who I am, my dreams, my goals - motherhood might be a new chapter, but it doesn’t mean losing myself."
Her perspective resonates deeply, highlighting not just the challenges of motherhood but the opportunity for growth and evolution.
Looking ahead, the couple is already planning for more children, with Zimu often speaking of children in the plural.
Her readiness to embrace this new chapter is underscored by an ongoing dialogue about the kind of parenting she wishes to practice, one that fosters love, freedom and respect for individuality.
Fellow celebrities have already begun to shower her with congratulatory messages, as she prepares to embark on what she describes as the "most beautiful season of my life".
