South Africa’s popular soapie ‘Scandal’ this September returns to its regular weekday programming after it introduced an extended seven-day viewing experiment for winter.
Broadcaster e.tv explained that the all-week viewing was a treat for its dedicated viewers for the winter season. The special treat was designed to keep viewers entertained with non-stop drama, suspense and heartfelt moments while keeping warm during the cold season.
As the award-winning show returns to regular programming, the drama also doesn't stop with new twists and dramatic storylines. “Scandal!” has welcomed several new faces such as Kwenzo Ngcobo, Londeka Sishi and Nombulelo Mhlongo, who will all find themselves in quite the entanglement.
Ngcobo portrays the character of Nhloso who’s forbidden kiss with Dintle portrayed by Mapaseka Koetle, sets off a chain reaction of jealousy and betrayal.
Sishi who is well-known for her role as Nkanyezi on Showmax hit show “Adulting” has joined “Scandal!”. She portrays the character of Busisiwe who’s obsession turns deadly, leading to a heart-stopping confrontation that could cost lives.
Nombulelo Mhlongo, best known for the roles on “Durban Gen” and “Uzalo” joins as Ngcobo’s on-screen wife Ma’Dlomo, who warns Dintle to stay away from her husband.
With family issues and landlord problems piling up, Nhloso faces a tough choice - must he choose between Dintle and Ma'Dlomo, or will he end up in a tricky polygamous setup? As things get messy, Nhloso’s decisions will have a big impact on everyone.
Known for its compelling storylines and unforgettable characters, “Scandal!” viewers are loyal to the long-running show whether it airs seven or five days a week. “Scandal!” is e.tv’s third most watched programme with 3.6 million viewers in July.
Even though it was a feast for some viewers, most of them did not like the concept because of being overwhelmed with the content.
