Mzansi Wethu’s telenovela “Sibongile and The Dlaminis” continues to be the most watched on DStv.

For the month of September, the telenovela has 1,508,378 viewers, an increase from their August numbers of 1,344,524.

Launched last year in July, the telenovela, while it still has an impressive reach, in April this year, the channel reported it had reached an impressive two million viewers mark.

Viewership numbers audited by a channel often differ The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa, which releases figures monthly.

From March, “Sibongile and The Dlaminis” has maintained the most watched programme on DStv, with viewership ranging from 1.3 to 1.4 million viewers.

On the other hand, on the public broadcaster, “Uzalo” is the most watched programme on SABC 1 with 5,128,867 viewers and is the most watched across channels.

“Generations the Legacy” and “Skeem Saam” follow behind with 4,438,978 and 3,920,850 viewers.

“Muvhango” is yet to pick up its viewership numbers but is still the most watched programme on SABC 2. The reruns and new revamped series plot has not given the channel the number boost needed, with 1,059,266 viewers.

SABC 1 is the only public broadcaster channel where ratings have leaped over the one million mark. On standalone channel e.tv, their soapies are averaging three million viewers and “House of Zwide” is the most watched with 3,851,143 viewers.

S3 is lagging behind with the most watched programme being the African Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, with 1,406,136 viewers. “Masterchef South Africa” is also lagging behind with less than half a million viewers.
