In a time where convenience is key, services such Checkers Sixty, Uber Eats, Woollies Dash, and other delivery platforms have become more than just a quick way to get dinner or groceries to our doorstep.
They've quickly embedded themselves into the fabric of daily life, making these bikers more like family to many of us.
They’re ever-present, zipping around on the roads, delivering everything from meals to groceries, and making it all seem effortless.
But behind the deliveries is a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood that often goes unnoticed.
The bikers sense of unity is perhaps one of the most important qualities that keep them going in a tough job, earning every cent and facing the challenges of the roads with a shared understanding of what it means to have each other’s backs.
Many are not locals, and often can be seen sharing a loaf of bread, or a laugh and chat, while waiting for their next delivery,
Affectionately known as “the biggest biker club in SA” one netizen went so far as to write: “I swear these are South Africa’s superheroes“.
This was in reaction to a recent viral video that captured a moment on the R102, near the Sitari Checkers in the Helderberg region.
Two delivery bikers showed an incredible display of solidarity when one of them ran out of fuel, all knowing that every minute counts when you only have 60 minutes to fulfil a promise of delivery.

Without hesitation the two came to his rescue with the riders on the two flanking bikes using their legs and balance to keep the defunct bike moving forward to the nearest petrol station.
This small act of kindness is a reminder of the strong sense of community that exists among these riders, where they have each other’s backs and try their best to “help a brother out”.
Sadly, the life of a delivery biker isn’t without its dangers. Cape Town’s busy highways and bustling streets can be unforgiving.
A recent tragic accident on Camps Bay Drive, where one of these bikers lost his life, saw at least 20 bikers from nearby rush to the scene, many praying, making the sign of the crucifix and surrounding their fallen comrade.
It’s moments like these that highlight the risks these bikers face daily plus the palpable support within the biking community.
One TikTok user - also in the delivery business, shared his own positive experience, recalling how several bikers stopped to make sure he was okay when his delivery box flew open.
“How many guys stopped and asked if I was okay? I’m like, wow! Thanks, guys, I really appreciate it,” he commented.
Another shared a similar story: “I saw one guy get knocked off his bike, and about 10 others came and stopped one after the other to check on him. It’s incredible how they look out for one another.”
These moments are a testament to the bond these bikers share. They support each other like a close-knit family.
Their sense of unity is perhaps one of the most important qualities that keep them going in a tough job.
As they continue to make their rounds, these bikers embody a community spirit that goes beyond just the job.
