The Miss Universe organisation released a statement on January 2 announcing the disqualification of Miss Universe Argentina 2024, Magali Benejam from her title due to the comments that Benejam made about the organisation and Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjær Theilvig.
“After a thorough review of recent public comments made by Miss Magali Benejam, and based on our core principles, we have decided to withdraw immediately the title of Miss Universe Argentina from Miss Benejam,” the organisation said in the press release.
This comes after Benejam was on a live stream with a Youtuber, King Lucho, who interviewed her about her time in Mexico, how the competition was and her overall experience.
The 30-year-old model shared her experiences with some of the contestants and shared that most of the women were lovely and intelligent.
However, she claimed that exposure was only given to all the Latino contestants but not contestants from other countries, which left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Benejam was asked about Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Jennifer Colón, and she described her encounter in the last days of the pageant as unpleasant.
“I spoke to her a couple of times. I suppose she was very nervous and focused on herself. On the last two days, I said to her, ‘Hello Jenny, how are you?’ and she just looked at me and did not answer,” Benejam said.
The beauty queen also revealed that Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios’ farewell was horrific after King Lucho asked what she thought about it.
“Horror, and apart from that, I saw her leave the stage alone, with her back to the audience. How is there no one to escort her?” Benejam recounted.
She also shared that her experience with the current reigning Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjær Theilvig was uncomfortable.
“At the time, I did not greet her or anything because the truth is that the last two days with her had been quite uncomfortable,” she shared.
The model also said that she knew that the Miss Universe organisation was going to choose a contestant either from Africa or Europe since the organisation wants to expand the economic horizons of the brand.
