The CUB concept, according to Kia, is a compact four-door coupé.
Now unless our eyes need testing, that looks a lot more like a hatchback to us; but then the coupé's traditional definition has already been bruised and battered by all those 'four-door coupés' that are all the rage these days.
Nonetheless, the CUB does appear to offer a tantalising ride to trendy city folk and it should be rather practical relative to its compact dimensions - it measures less than four metres in length.
Kia says it has no plans to put this concept into series production; yet, as is usually the case with concepts, it probably gives us an idea of what design features we'll see on future models.
Penned under the direction of Kia president and chief design officer Peter Schreyer, the CUB is easy to get in and out of thanks to the absence of a B-pillar and the fitment of rearward-opening back doors.
Four occupants will be able to slide into individual seats and experience a yellow and black colour explosion. Sporty design cues abound and the driver gets to stare down an instrument cluster that was inspired by the eyes of a wild animal.
There is a certain measure of wildness accessible through the accelerator pedal, this being Kia's 1.6-litre direct injection turbopetrol engine - good for 152kW and 265Nm. 0-100, they say, would take 7.7 seconds and it wouldn't run out of steam before the 230km/h mark.
Which is all quite irrelevant, come to think of it, because they're not building it… right?
