Porsche has gone into new-car overdrive with no less than three new models scheduled to premiere on the same day - next Wednesday, 20 November - at motor shows in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Guangzhou (China).
The highlight of this launch marathon, of course, will be Porsche's entry into a completely new segment with the world premiere of the Macan compact SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Also making its world debut in Los Angeles will be the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, while the Panamera Turbo S will be unveiled for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show.
And at almost the same time, the 918 Spyder sports car will be shown to the Chinese and American public for the first time in Guangzhou and Los Angeles.
ALL-NEW MACAN
The all-new Macan will be introduced on the eve of the Los Angeles auto show at 7.55pm, local time, on 19 November - that's 4.55am SA time on Wednesday morning, if you're enough of a Porsche fan to get up for the live broadcast .
Then there's a media conference at 1.15pm in Tokyo (5.15am our time) during which the Panamera Turbo S will be shown 'in the metal' for the first time.
Billed as the fastest, most powerful and most luxurious model in the Panamera range, it boasts a power output of 425kW, a top speed of 310 km/h and an exclusive range of technology and luxury features.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE HYBRID
The 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid sports-car - first shown at the Frankfurt motor show in September, will also be seen 'live' for the first time in China and the United States next Wednesday.
Designed from the start to be a high-performance hybrid, the 918 Spyder combines the 660kW output of a super sports car and the virtually silent propulsion of an electric vehicle, taking it from 0-100km/h in 2.6 seconds, on an average fuel consumption of 3.1 litres per 100km.
And finally the 911 Turbo Cabriolet and 911 Turbo S Cabriolet will be introduced on the first day of the Los Angeles auto show at 11.35am local time (8.35pm in South Africa).
Their biturbo 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine delivers 388kW in the open-top 911 Turbo and 418kW in the S model, with each reaching a top speed of up to 318 km/h, while averaging less than 10 litres per 100km.
