Bodies of three unidentified adult men were discovered in Kraaifontein, in the Western Cape on Monday.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut said detectives are exploring leads in order to discover what happened that resulted in the death of the unknown men.
“The bodies of the victims were discovered this morning at around 8am at a dam on a farm in Botfontein Road, with fatal injuries reminiscent of an act of vigilantism,” Traut said.
Traut advocated that anybody with information about the case contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or anonymously using the smartphone application My SAPS.
This triple murder follows a worrying pattern in which there have been multiple mass murders in the province recently. A seventh person died as a result of gun violence in Atlantis recently.
The motivation is thought to be linked to gang activity. Police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk verified the incident.
“Atlantis police are investigating a murder case following a shooting incident on Tuesday, October 29 at 4.15pm in Valleyfield Street, Extension 13 in Saxonsea.
“Members attended to a shooting incident at the mentioned address, and on arrival found the 24-year-old male laying on the pavement with a gunshot wound to the head. Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive for this attack is believed to be gang related,” Van Wyk said.
Seeking justice, the authorities, arrested an unexpected suspect in relation to the murder. “A 15-year-old male suspect was arrested today (Wednesday, October 30) for charges of murder. He will appear in the Atlantis Magistrate's Court once charged,” van Wyk said.
