MMC for Utility Services in Tshwane, Frans Boshielo, has raised concerns about a faulty valve affecting the water supply to the Mabopane main reservoir, despite water being restored in Soshanguve Block L.
He assured residents that municipal teams were on-site repairing and restoring a faulty valve and that residents are likely to be affected by the repairs.
Areas likely to be affected are Klippan 102-JR, Mabopane 702-JR, Mabopane Ext 2 and 4, Mabopane Block A, CV, E, N and S, Rietgat 105-JR, Soshanguve-NN, Tswaing 149-JR, Winterveld, Winterveld AH, Winterveld AH Ext 1 and 3, Winterveld Ext 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7.
Boshielo said the municipality successfully restored water supply to the Soshanguve area, warning residents to preserve water.
He said the teams worked overtime to ensure that water was restored to Soshanguve L Tower, following days of water shortages in the area.
“We apologise to residents for water interruptions continuously experienced in the region. I want to thank my department’s dedicated officials who worked tirelessly and under extreme conditions to restore the water supply. We remain committed to scout for a long-term solution to avoid prolonged water shortages,” he said.
The shortage of water in the area was attributed to leaks around the reservoir and valves.
Boshielo pleaded with residents to continue to preserve water as Tshwane and Gauteng experience water shortages.
“We are currently under Level 1 water restrictions. Please use water sparingly,” he said.
Meanwhile, residents in various suburbs of region 3 might today experience water supply interruptions due to a planned maintenance of control valves around the Meintjieskop reservoir zone.
“Unfortunately, this essential work will result in a water supply interruption for eight hours from 08h00 until 16h00,” said City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
