It's the holiday season and South Africa is the most beautiful country for families to gather and enjoy a beach holiday at any of our favourite locations. This week I'll be highlighting the gorgeous town of Umhlanga on KZN 's magnificent coastline.

We were fortunate to stay at the world class Oyster Box Boutique Hotel which features the iconic Red and white Lighthouse from every angle possible. PIctures: Dr Norman Cahi.

The stunning pool overlooking the sands of the Indian Ocean, is the place to see and be seen.

A Durban curry at the very first 5 star hotel in SA, the Beverly Hills is still top of our culinary choices.

The seafood is naturally superb and perfectly prepared peri peri prawns is one of my favourites. Lord Prawn is particularly delicious with all that this old establishment serves to its loyal customers.

An unforgettable African sunset reminds one to relax, recharge and reflect.

There are amazing delis , coffee shops and bakeries for delicious goodies to be enjoyed.

The astonishing library of the Oyster Box, filled with British memorabilia, just up my alley in every way.

Shopping galore to suit anyone's needs. There are malls and streets of shops. You are spoilt for choice.

Wide open beaches and warm water invite visitors to this highly recommended town full of beautiful seafront resorts and hotels.
