Eight athletes will be in action for Team SA at the Paris Paralympics on Wednesday.
First up in swimming will be Alani Ferreira in the women’s 100m freestyle, in S12 heat two, at the Paris La Defense Arena at 9.41am.
Next will be Nicolas Pieter du Preez in the men’s H1 Individual Time Trial in para cycling on the track at Clich-sous-bois at 9.51am.
Philipa Johnson-Dwyer will be hoping for a top showing in the individual event, grade IV in equestrian at 10am.
Kerwin Noemda throwing for SA
A few minutes later at 10.05am, Kerwin Noemda will take part in the men’s shot put F46 final at the Stade de France.
Back in the pool, Christian Sadie will hope to progress in the men’s 50m freestyle S7 heat one at the Paris La Defense Arena at 10.57am.
At 12noon, Lucas Sithole and Donald Ramphadi will take on Brazil’s Leandro Pena and Ymanitu Silva in the quad doubles bronze medal match in the wheelchair tennis competition.
In the evening session, Mpumelelo Mhlongo will compete in the men’s long jump T64 final at Stade de France at 8.29pm. Mhlongo will be hoping to add to the gold medal he won in the men’s T44 100m on Sunday. Mhlongo is also the world record holder in the 100m, 200m and long jump. In fact, Mhlongo should be spurred on with his family in attendance like he was in the 100m.
In the last event of the day at 9.45pm, Sheryl James will hope to advance in the women’s 100m T37 round one, heat one.
