Former Orlando Pirates player Lebohang Mokoena has tipped the Buccaneers to finally clinch the Betway Premiership title this season.
The Soweto giants have finished in second place in the league for consecutive seasons behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been the dominant force in the PSL in recent years.
However, Sundowns are still trying find their groove under new head coach Manqoba Mngqithi this season following the sudden departure of Rulani Mokwena.
Mokoena praised the Buccaneer's squad depth, adding that Riveiro and his charges could end the club's 11-year long league drought.
“The Buccaneers are red-hot I think this season is their season and they can see it themselves by looking at the opposite team on the other side (Mamelodi Sundown) is a bit shaky,” Mokoena told SoccerBeat podcast on YouTube.
“Cheeseboy” as Mokoena is affectionately known added that belief was growing among the Buccaneers faithful already this season.
“They started well, they are scoring goals and you can even the supporters are now filling up the stadiums and it just shows that everybody is starting to believe now at Pirates.
“That is possible for them to win the league and in terms of the depth of the squad, you saw when they brought in Evidence Makgopa and they made good quality changes that came in and kept the game as it was.
“I think coach Riveiro has got a good thing going there and I think he has a solid squad that he can rotate at any time.”
