Mzanzi Wethu’s hit telenovela “Sibongile & The Dlaminis” will be shaking things up in new season with the inclusion of several new characters from Monday, July 29.
Actor Ntando Zondi, who played the role of young Prince Shaka on Mzansi Magic’s “Shaka Ilembe”, will enter the show as Themba. Themba is Njengaye and Nomfundo’s 16-year-old love child.
“Themba is looking to be a full and legitimate member of the Dlamini Clan,” read a statement from the channel.
During his upbringing, Themba had a strong bond with his mother and a strong desire to spend more time with his father.
Viewers will be introduced to Themba when a family member brings him to the Dlamini home and reveals his identity as Njengaye and Nomfundo’s love child.
After being welcomed into the family, Themba fights for validation, which impacts his mental and emotional well-being.
Greenhorn actress Azande Mkhungo will take up the role of Zamantungwa (Zama) Khumalo.
Zama is Sibongile's 17-year-old feisty room-mate. Both are from the university of life.
“Zama is an ‘it’ girl and cheese-girl of the hood and has always exhibited a flair for expressing herself through fashion and performance,” read the statement.
She grew up in KwaMashu township in Durban, surrounded by a rich tapestry of culture, music and community spirit, which sparked a passion for the creative arts.
She's the second of three children to two civil servant parents.
Despite facing economic challenges, Zama's family instilled a sense of resilience and determination in her.
She aspires to become a renowned actress but chose interior design instead in order to appease her parents who refused to pay for film school.
Viewers will get to see Zama struggle with her impulsiveness which will strain her relationships and hinder her progress towards her goals.
∎ “Sibongile and The Dlaminis” airs on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) from Monday to Wednesday at 6.30pm.
