Cape Town - The City of Cape Town has revealed their reward of R1 million has been paid to an anonymous person/s who provided vital information which secured the arrest of suspects in the murder case of City staffer Wendy Kloppers.
One of the suspects is linked to the Firm, under the command of the alleged 28s gang boss, Ralph Stanfield.
This week the City of Cape Town told Weekend Argus they could not disclose more about the payment.
“A reward was paid linked to the Wendy Kloppers matter. No further details may be provided for safety reasons.”
Sharazaadht Essop and Warren-Lee Dennis are facing a murder charge related to the death of Kloppers. Dennis handed himself over to police.
Essop is also facing two attempted murder charges and charges for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
In the latest developments, former DA housing Mayco member, Malusi Booi, was granted R250 000 bail while he faces a case involving R1 billion tender fraud and corruption.
Booi was arrested alongside Suraya Manual, Abdul Kader Davids, Mohammed Amod, Brenda and Randall Mullins, Thuli Imgib, his ex-wife Nomvuyo Mnyaka, ex-girlfriend Lorna Ndoda, and former colleague Siphokazi September, who are all believed to be part of the corruption involving housing tenders.
They are also facing charges relating to the murder of Kloppers.
Glomix Construction company owner Nicole Stanfield and Ralph Stanfield (her husband) are expected to be joined to the case soon.
When approached for comment, Kloppers’ husband, Raelton Kloppers, who is now raising the couple’s two sons, said he wanted to follow the case before commenting on the latest developments.
Kloppers previously told Weekend Argus that he believed his wife was killed in a case of mistaken identity, and that the intended target drove the same car as hers and it was the same colour.
Kloppers was an air quality manager at the City and was shot and killed in February 2023 at a construction site in Delft by gunmen.
A week prior to the shooting, three construction workers were shot and wounded.
